MONSTERS OF MINE SERIES
Located in Norrbotten County, Lapland, Sweden, approximately 145 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, Kiruna stands as the largest iron-ore mine in the world.
Kiruna mine has been in operation since 1898 and is owned by the Swedish mining company LKAB. The mine produces high-quality magnetite iron ore, which is used for steel production. Due to its location, the mine experiences extreme weather conditions, including long, cold winters and 24-hour sunlight during the summer months.
