THE ARTWORK

A different distance.

A new way of seeing.

Located approximately 13 km north of Fermont, Québec, and 10 km north of the Mont Wright mining complex, Bloom Lake Mine forms part of a landscape shaped by iron ore extraction. Its railway carries iron concentrate to the port of Sept-Îles, connecting this inland territory to distant destinations. Viewed through ULTRADISTANCIA, the site invites a reading of mining beyond the excavation itself: a geography of routes, infrastructure and transformed land, where the movement of material leaves its mark on the Earth’s surface.
