A landscape drawn in lines.
An unexpected order from above.
In Gusevogorskoye Mine, overlapping terraces curl around deep excavations, forming a dense arrangement of contours, folds and spirals. Dark greens and ochre give way to vivid yellow and coral, while fine roads and scattered fragments extend across a deep crimson field.
Located in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast, in the Ural region, this vast iron ore mine follows deposits rich in magnetite. Its stepped geometry records successive stages of extraction: geological formations guide the excavation, and human engineering reshapes their contours into terraces and winding routes.
